The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), on September 16, 2026, issued the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Eleventh Amendment) Order, 2026 under the Destructive Insects and Pests Act, 1914. The Order amends Schedule VI of the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003 by inserting a new entry relating to Taxus wallichiana var. mairei.
The amendment prescribes import conditions for dried needles (leaves) of Taxus wallichiana var. mairei for therapeutic purposes, originating from the Netherlands (country of origin: France). The phytosanitary certificate must declare the material free from specified pests, pathogens and weeds, including Heterobasidion annosum, Otiorhynchus singularis, Phytophthora ramorum, Pissodes castaneus and Rhizobium rhizogenes. The material must also be free from quarantine weed seeds, soil and other plant debris.
As a special condition of import, the dried plant material must undergo post-harvest drying treatment at 60°C for 18 hours, and the treatment must be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin/re-export. The amendment comes into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
